Manchester United and Arsenal might just have been dealt a transfer blow, after Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi appeared to temper rumours of a summer exit.

Manchester United and Arsenal’s hopes of signing Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi this summer may have been dampened as the player has recently spoken out against transfer speculation surrounding his future. Despite being valued at €44.7m by their Expected Transfer Value (xTV) model, with a €60m release clause, the 24-year-old has pledged his future to Real Sociedad. Zubimendi, who came through the club’s youth system, signed a contract extension last October to remain at the club until the end of the 2026/27 season and has no intention of leaving.

Real Sociedad is currently fourth in La Liga with a seven-point cushion on fifth-placed Villarreal and is poised to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 2013/14. Zubimendi has started 30 out of 33 league games this season and has over 100 career appearances in the Spanish top flight. He has also represented Spain at various age-group levels and won his first senior international cap in a 2021 friendly against Lithuania.
