Arsenal face competition from Newcastle and PSG in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby this summer.

Arsenal may face competition from Newcastle and PSG in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby this summer. The 23-year-old France international has been one of Leverkusen’s key players in recent seasons, but the club is set to miss out on Champions League football next season. Despite this, Leverkusen is reportedly reluctant to sell Diaby, who is their top scorer this season with 14 goals in all competitions. The club values him highly and may require an offer in excess of €50m to part with him, according to L’Equipe. However, our Expected Transfer Value model values Diaby at €59.8m, indicating that any club that acquires him may have to pay a significant amount for his services.

Diaby’s dual attacking threat

Moussa Diaby’s impressive attacking threat is reflected in his almost 100 goal involvements in 167 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen, including 49 goals and 48 assists. This season alone, he has contributed nine goals and nine assists in the Bundesliga. The 23-year-old French international, who won his first cap in 2021, came through the youth system at Paris Saint-Germain and made his senior debut for the club at the age of 19. Although he missed out on selection for France’s 2022 World Cup squad, his performances in Germany have attracted interest from several clubs, including Arsenal, Newcastle, and PSG.
