Borussia Dortmund sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, has hinted that midfielder Jude Bellingham may not be leaving the club to join Real Madrid this summer, potentially opening the door for Liverpool to renew their interest in the player. Liverpool had withdrawn from the race to sign Bellingham in April due to the high transfer fees involved, with Real Madrid emerging as frontrunners for the player’s signature. However, Kehl’s comments suggest that Bellingham may choose to stay in the Bundesliga for another season, which could give Liverpool a second chance to pursue the player.

Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager, has reportedly been looking at other midfield options after withdrawing from the Bellingham race, but the opportunity to sign the highly-rated 17-year-old could be tempting. Bellingham has impressed in his debut season at Dortmund, making 46 appearances across all competitions and scoring four goals. He has also earned international recognition with the England national team, making his debut in November 2020.

Bellingham to stay at Dortmund?

Borussia Dortmund sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, has indicated that Jude Bellingham may not leave the club this summer, as he still has two years left on his contract and no release clause has been attached to it. Dortmund will likely make negotiations difficult for any potential suitors, including Real Madrid, as they seek to get the best possible price for the 19-year-old midfielder. Kehl has also suggested that the outcome of the Bundesliga title race could be a factor in Bellingham’s decision to stay or leave the club. Dortmund are just one point behind league leaders Bayern Munich with two games left to play, and if they win the title, it could be a sign to Bellingham that he can achieve his goals at the club. Kehl has stated that Dortmund are prepared for different scenarios regarding Bellingham’s future and that they have found solutions in the past when selling players for market prices.
