Amy Slaton, a star of the reality show 1000-Lb. Sisters, and her husband, Michael Halterman, have officially ended their marriage. Michael filed for dissolution of marriage with children against Amy on March 13, 2023, as revealed in exclusive documents obtained by In Touch. The couple, who tied the knot in 2019, separated on February 24, 2023. Michael requested a case management conference and a civil restraining order that prohibits contact between them and requires them to stay 500 feet apart. They are also forbidden from discussing the divorce publicly or on social media, with all communication to be conducted through a court-approved app.
Following the separation, Amy moved out of their shared home and relocated to her sister Tammy’s house with their sons. In April, In Touch obtained additional divorce documents that shed light on the extent of their separation. The documents revealed that Michael is currently unemployed and had been previously married. He also expressed his belief that Amy is also unemployed.
In May, Amy dropped the domestic violence charges against Michael during their divorce hearing, although a civil restraining order was still filed separately. The former couple can only communicate via text for parenting matters and must adhere to their privately agreed-upon contract.
