During a recent episode of 1000-Lb. Sisters, Amy Slaton, one of the show’s stars, opened up to her sisters, Tammy Slaton and Amanda Halterman, about her desire to leave her husband, Michael Halterman, during a self-care night. The episode, which aired on December 26, depicted Amy’s struggles in taking care of her young sons, Gage (3) and Glenn (17 months).

Amanda, visiting her sister to offer support, observed Amy’s exhaustion and decided to bring self-care products to lift her spirits. In a tearful conversation, Amy expressed her emotional fatigue, prompting Amanda to hope that the self-care items would bring a smile to her face.

During the application of face masks, the sisters encountered some confusion, leading to laughter and lightening the mood momentarily. Amanda mentioned that Amy’s face always appeared puffy, as if she was constantly on the verge of tears, which Amy confirmed.

However, the atmosphere quickly shifted when Amy revealed her readiness to walk away from her troubled marriage with Michael. In a confessional, Amy emotionally shared her repeated warnings to Michael about the need for change, stating that she used to be the glue holding their family together but now feels like a discarded piece of gum. She expressed her desire for happiness and stated that she wants a divorce.

The self-care day followed the previous week’s episode, in which the sisters searched for a nanny to assist with Amy and Michael’s children. While Amanda believed that Michael was capable of taking care of the kids, Amy revealed that he insisted she couldn’t leave without them. She explained in a confessional that Michael was reluctant to watch both children alone, potentially because he preferred playing video games rather than caring for them.

It’s worth noting that the episode was filmed before Michael filed for dissolution of marriage with children against Amy in March. The date of separation was stated as February 24, but the reason for their split was undisclosed.
